Benjamin Franklin is often quoted as saying "The only things certain in life are death and taxes." Had he been born in England after 1950, he very well may have added "and the British pilgrimage to Disney World."
For many Brits, the journey to see Mickey Mouse is a rite of passage. For Craig Williams and family, it became a regular way of life and exactly what a holiday should be. The book reads as a day-in-the-life journal that spans quite a number of years, and is full of fun colloquialisms (for example, "a tenner" = a 10 pound note, or about $15) that add a certain flair and voice that is otherwise difficult to capture. For certain, Williams does a spot on job of capturing the frustrations and joys of visiting Orlando theme parks as seen through the eyes of a man of a certain age. From the heat and humidity, to the sheer exhaustion a vacation can truly elicit, the reader will come to feel as though he or she has stepped in to Craig's shoes as he describes in humorous detail his family's experiences in and around the Magic Kingdom.
If you're looking for a book about family vacations that doesn't sugar coat, but rather tells what Disney vacation life is really like, then you'll very much enjoy this book.
