Samuel Langhorne Clemens - who wrote under the pseudonym Mark Twain - was born in Florida, Missouri, in 1835. He spent his childhood in the Mississippi River town of Hannibal, Missouri, leaving home in 1853. His brief career as a riverboat pilot was ended by the Civil War, in which he served as a Confederate irregular. He then traveled to Nevada to strike it rich, and when that plan failed went on to achieve renown as a deft humorist, masterful satirist, great novelist and memorable travel writer, using the name "Mark Twain" - a river pilot's measurement of depth. Beloved by readers around the world, Clemens died in 1910. Collected here is a wonderful selection of anecdotes from Mark Twain's life, as told with candor by the great man himself. This book is part memoir, part philosophical text, part study in human behavior, from one of America's greatest literary treasures. Narrated masterfully by Bronson Pinchot, this audiobook also includes Twain's popular short story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County", as well as a printable eBook in PDF format.

Mark Twain really needs no introduction for any lover of English literature. This reader thoroughly enjoyed the author's inclusion of his daughter's own diary of her father, the eminent Mark Twain. Fascinating insights from a young girl. Twain's revealing story of an evening with the German Chancellor of the time, and Twain's frustrations over his inability to break a strong social pattern of a guest being subservient to his host was worth its weight in gold. Priceless example of his many-facetted life. Worth the read - and a repeat.Product details

Chapters from My Autobiography (Audible Audio Edition) Mark Twain Bronson Pinchot Inc Blackstone Audio Books Reviews
This book has really good memorable parts interspersed with parts I probably won't bother to read again. I will remember the good parts, though, for the rest of my life, and I marked them to read over- again and again- aloud- to any person I can tie down.
It is a surprise when you read about someone that you think that you know; and you find out how little you really know.
Once I got accustomed to his quaint way of writing, I found so much to smile at or laugh aloud! Of course, he was also a southern writer and they place high on my list of must reads.
I like most of Mark Twain's writings. It is amazing to me how contemporary his outlook still is today!
What a good natured romp! The book is a collection of remembrances from a long and eventful life told with warmth and humor. Oh, such humor. I smiled, I laughed, I shook my head with appreciation of his wry way of telling ANY story. So human. So sweet.
The Author, The Lecturer,...the Comedian, and the Father who brought tears to my eyes when he
describes the passing of his favorite daughter. I felt every bit of his grief and walked through his life with
him. Great read and I loved reading every bit of his real life.
Twain's mastery of the English language is amazing. His descriptive episodes make fun and amusing reading. Highly recommend this book.
