Kudos to Breese and Ward who have written an irreverent, humorous, yet painfully true, look at the teaching profession. All of us who are teachers have made these observations and had these thoughts, but never had the guts to put it in writing. This is a must read for veteran teachers who have been there and done that, and for potential teachers who should not go there or do that. Kids, administrators, fellow teachers and central office suits do not escape the authors' wry scrutiny. A fun and quick read for educators everywhere, but remember to keep a sense of humor.Product details

Teaching An Unauthorized Guide to Surviving the Profession edition by Catherine Ward Bryan Breese Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews
This was very funny and so true! As a teacher I can relate! I especially love the types of administrators!
Loved the book, I laughed out loud, so much my kids wanted to know what I was laughing at. Of course I could not tell them.
This irreverent and hysterical book is a quick and fun read for those who are or have ever been in the trenches. I laughed out loud and recognized many characters from my own experiences.
It really is just like this. The only complaint I have is that they fail to get across that we are masochists of the best sort, And that we get out of bed and go to work every day because we love the part of our job that matters the moment a spark of recognition flares in a student's eyes and they GET it. Well written and funny.
Gave it to my daughter who teaches in a "challenging school" in New Jersey. Lots of laughs follow each page. Amazing that so many teachers are saying the same thing. It must be them (the teachers) that don't get it. If they did, they wouldn't be teachers.
As a primary and secondary teacher I nodded all the way though Mr Ward's tales. I have since left the profession for many of the reasons gone into in the book. He does a good job of showing the good and bad and it's a real insight into the profession and the unrealistic demands put on teachers. I hope the author sticks with it as he sounds like a good teacher, caring, and fun, and dedicated in the right measure. Nice one.
